Mt. Timpanogos
Mt. Timpanogos, Wasatch Range, Utah - 11,753 feet
On August 5, 2023, I set out with my son and his girlfriend for an early morning start up the Timpooneke Trail to the Summit of Mt. Timpanogos. At 11,753' this was their second Utah summit and first over 9,000'.
This is an approximate 15 mile hike with around 4200' of total elevation gain. This trail takes you through the Mt. Timpanogos Wilderness on the Eastern side of the summit, through forest and meadows until you reach the exposed rock of the summit. You'll pass beautiful fields of wildflowers and numerous waterfalls. It's an amazing place to behold.
On the descent we spotted a family of mountain goats which are common to the area (but uncommon to us!). It was a favorite moment for all of us on the hike.
