Mt. Olympus Summit Hike

Peak Bagging in the Wasatch Front.

This is one that's been on my radar for awhile. It’s a short one, but this is a really pretty mountain right up against the city. At 9000' above sea level at the summit, Mt. Olympus is one of the more prominent peaks along the Wasatch Front due to its positioning due east of the Salt Lake Valley.

I took this one, like most do from the Mt. Olympus trailhead off Wasatch Boulevard. This trailhead provides an out and back hike of about 7.1 miles with an impressive 4200' of elevation (all in the first half of the hike). The elevation increases gradually as you ascend with the last few hundred feet a bit of a scramble.

Because I did this in early spring, about half the ascent was through snow pack requiring the use of microspikes and poles.
